For JK Wranglers with soft tops, the Mopar Tailgate Bar is one of those parts that you just cannot go without if you want to keep your Jeep dry. The tailgate bar slides onto the rear window to create a rigid connection that holds the window out past the body. Without the tailgate bar the window just hangs loose at the bottom and water can just sheet into the cargo area. The tailgate bar also helps to roll up the rear window straight when you are folding the top down to enjoy the weather. The tailgate bar requires a left and right retainer clip (sold separately) to function properly.
