The Crown Automotive Transfer Case Motor is for a failing unit on the Liberty KK and Grand Cherokee WK with Quadra-Trac cases. This motor attaches to the worm drive to actuate the transfer case when it is demanded by the operator or the computer. If your system is getting hung up between engaged and disengaged you could be wearing out other parts of the drive train faster. Otherwise a fully operating 4WD drive unit is nice to have when you need it to get you out of a jam. Installs on the outside of the transfer case in place of old unit with no modifications.
